Well it has been awhile since I’ve blogged – we have had many rehearsals and several gigs that were high profile. As we prepared for each performance we found ourselves learning new material. Each show was about 75% new material, all not your normal fare. We covered Abbey Lincoln to Purcell, Jimmy Page to Thelonious Monk. We’ve performed our usual duo format, with one of our favorite percussionist and with a small ensemble of strings and percussion. Now that the winter cold is setting in we are hunkered down working on our recording and that is revealing more new material – some of it original. I’m digging the originals, the blend of the influences is a lot of fun. As Laura puts it “enlightened blues”!
